PANELIST Rick Gehringer CIO The Brookings Institution
Rick is an information technology executive with over 25 years experience leveraging information technology to meet financial and operational objectives in domestic and international environments. He has successfully developed and implemented IT strategies driven by business objectives in commercial, financial consulting, and non-profit sectors. He has a proven record of translating business challenges and opportunities into transformational solutions within rapidly growing organizations.
As a business technology leader, Rick has extensive development and execution experience in information technology governance, business process improvement, and project and portfolio management. His experience in mergers and acquisitions includes designing and executing due diligence activities as well as managing business process and systems integration. Rick’s work has included large-scale financial, human resources, and project management systems implementations; applications and web development; ecommerce; outsourcing; advanced video communications; and business analytics.
Rick joined The Brookings Institution in 2006 where he currently serves as the Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining Brookings, Rick served as the Global CIO of The Westfield Group, an international real estate company. Rick holds a BA in Finance and an MS in Information Systems. He has earned an advanced certification in the Governance of Enterprise Information Technology (CGEIT) from the Information Systems Audit and Controls Association.
PANELIST John Lambeth VP Information Technology & Security Blackboard John Lambeth serves as Vice President, Information Technology & Security for Blackboard, Inc. As the corporate CIO, he is responsible for IT strategy, governance and compliance. Over the last 4 years, he has led the IT organization through an initial public offering and multiple mergers and acquisitions. He established standards necessary to meet rigorous Payment Card Industry and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. His 20 years of information technology experience has also included significant roles at CIGNA and Xerox Corporation, where he managed large IT programs and staff operations both in the US and internationally. He holds an M.B.A. from the William E. Simon School and a B.A. from McDaniel College. In addition, he is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Distinctions include selection for Baltimore’s 2009 Smart CIO Top 10, consecutive Top 100 placements in the InformationWeek 500 in 2008-2009, and publication in industry journals including CIO Decisions and Control Journal. John is committed to volunteer service in the community. Currently, Mr. Lambeth serves as a board member for the Society for Information Management and the Kogod School of Business at American University. He serves as a committee member for the Sully District Boy Scouts of America. He has also organized teams to participate in Habitat for Humanity projects.

Bio: Dr. Gotthard Saghi-Szabo is the Carnegie Institution's Chief Information Officer. His office is responsible for ensuring that the institution's information system investments are aligned with its mission and strategic objectives. Gotthard has extensive experience in information systems management and development, business process implementation and improvement, and audit compliance. In this role, Gotthard is responsible for information systems strategic planning, partnerships with external organizations and companies, and the implementation of policies and best practices related to planning, developing, supporting, and maintaining business, scientific computing, networking, and telecommunications services for the Institution.
The Carnegie Institution for Science is a world-class organization for scientific discovery. Working in six scientific departments on the West and East Coasts, Carnegie investigators are leaders in the fields of plant biology, developmental biology, Earth and planetary sciences, astronomy, and global ecology. They seek answers to questions about the structure of the universe, the formation of our solar system and other planetary systems, the behavior and transformation of matter when subjected to extreme conditions, the origin of life, the function of genes, and the development of organisms from single-celled egg to adult.
Gotthard successfully transformed the IS unit into a dynamic, innovative, result-focused services organization, established a culture of accountability, designed and implemented a comprehensive IS service management methodology. He established the Carnegie Information Systems Internship program which enables DC metropolitan area IS students to work on specific projects under the direction of Carnegie's professional staff. Gotthard holds a Ph.D. degree in Computational Physical Chemistry from University of Maryland at College Park.

Diane Rigsby has an extensive technology industry background in a wide range of environments. In addition to valuable corporate experience with General Electric and Lexis-Nexis, Diane has devoted almost fifteen years to healthcare IT. Diane’s work has included applications development, technical services and support, e-commerce, large system implementations, corporate acquisitions, collocating data centers, business analytics, designing and installing voice and unified communication systems and taking the lead on strategic planning and building technology infrastructures from the ground up. This vast background in the convergence of business and technology solutions has been instrumental in her most recent work at Capital Hospice where she has built a technology infrastructure that satisfies the abundant need for electronic health records and enhanced quality healthcare delivery along with a competitive advantage in Capital Hospice’s position in the Metro D.C. market. Diane serves on national steering committees and has addressed groups across the country on technical service operations and effectiveness. Originally from New York, Diane relocated to the Washington, D.C. area in 2002.
FEATURED PRESENTER Pascal Laik Vice President Oracle
Pascal Laik is the Vice President of Oracle Master Data Management (MDM) Products. His group’s responsibilities include product strategy, product management, industry go to market, and the support of Oracle MDM sales, marketing and services teams for Oracle MDM products. Prior to that position, Pascal led the Customer Data Integration (CDI) Oracle/Siebel consulting practice in EMEA and prior to this job Pascal led the CDI/UAN product line at Siebel within the Product Marketing organization. Before Siebel/Oracle, Pascal worked 8 years in Consulting including 4 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Paris as a Manager and 4 years with Andersen Consulting in Paris and Chicago as a Senior Consultant. Pascal has a Master of Science in Engineering from Ecole Nationale Superieure de Techniques Avancees (ENSTA), Paris France and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Wharton School from the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a major in Finance in May 2000 with distinction.

Cameron commands nearly 15 years of experience in the IT industry with a focus on infrastructure, internet technologies and disaster recovery. He is currently a Senior Solutions Engineer at SunGard Availability Services where he helps customers insure their business’ critical data and applications remain available in spite of a constantly growing threat landscape. He previously held positions as a Senior Infrastructure Consultant at Exodus Communications and a Network Manager at GE Capital. Cameron graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in English and has obtained many technical certifications throughout his career.
Dave Maxfield VP Professional Services Experis Technology Group
Mr. Maxfield brings with him over 25 years of senior management/executive experience in the Telecommunications, Satellite Systems, and IT Industries. Prior to joining Experis, he was Vice President, IT Operations for Metrocall Wireless (now USA Mobility). Mr. Maxfield has also served as an executive/senior manager for such companies as American Mobile Satellite (now Motient), MCI, and Satellite Business Systems.
At Metrocall Wireless, as Chief Information Officer, he designed and implemented a nationwide ATM network for the delivery of voice, data, and customer paging traffic. He also managed all IT operations and development for the nation’s largest paging provider. Additionally, Mr. Maxfield designed and implemented custom call center integrated telephony and IVR applications that resulted in significant savings. Mr. Maxfield was responsible for Metrocall Wireless Information Technology acquisition implementation and managed the business’s multiple data centers throughout the United States. Mr. Maxfield’s experience includes managing high availability storage solutions, multiple call center systems, CRM systems, ecommerce and web systems, and business continuance planning.
As a Principal at Experis Technology Group, Mr. Maxfield services as the Chief Technology Officer and head of the professional services group. Experis is a full service IT consulting and sales business with offices in Bethesda, Md. Experis specializes in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and High Availability systems design and support.
Mr. Maxfield lives in Round Hill, Va. with his wife Linda and daughter Rebecca. Mr. Maxfield is a certified Commercial Multi-Engineer Pilot and Instructor and enjoys aerobatic flight competitions. Mr. Maxfield is a graduate of the University of Md. with Computer Science and Information Systems degrees.
FEATURED PRESENTER Rob Consolazio VP Vaultus Rob Consolazio is the Vice President of Business Development at Vaultus Mobile Technology. Rob has over 20 years of experience in a variety of leadership roles in the wireless communications, software applications, and communications hardware industries. Prior to joining Vaultus, Rob was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Cbeyond Communications in Atlanta, GA, a leading VoIP provider to small to medium businesses. Rob was also the Chief Marketing Officer at Stratos Global, the world’s largest distributor of advanced satellite communications services, and he led Nextel Communication's award winning business applications group. Rob served for five years in US Navy as a Communications and Weapons Officer aboard a guided missile frigate. Rob has degree in Physics from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from the University of Georgia.
